With the release of the watchmen trailer today (well apparently as long as it takes till the movie company takes them down) which has kinda left me humming and arhhing (and chin stroking as that always looks deep) I've had a small trawl through the mass of ether and flashing lights that is the internet (that is what its made of ...isn't it? oh no wait its this) for just general things related to Alan Moore. Actually Alan Moore understandably detests the film treatments of his works (especially understandable if you've ever had to sit through the League of extraordinary gentlemen movie find Moore talking about the actual comic here) but I actually just wanted to hear him speak, as somehow it tickles me that a guy who has lived his entire life in Northampton produced a Swamp Thing series that depicts America so intently (and frighteningly).
Anyway with a reputation about his lack of enjoyment for interviews that probably has something to do with the fact that most employ some horrible floating camera angles or strobe effect in an attempt to make him look sinister there actually some really good interviews and extracts with Moore, err more than happy to discus his work and themes, Stewart Lee's interview is well worth watching if nothing else to see what an interesting and funny man he actually is... that and the hairy serpent thing. Annnnywwway I did find a great little documentary from 1987 that has a young (but still awesomely haired) Moore early into his comic career but introduces themes that still flit through his work now, also there's eighties fashions, Moore interviewing himself, impersonating a demon in a mirror oh and a song about ducks, really evil ducks. Its worth watching if not for some explanation on the creating of watchmen and his life up to that point.
Part one is below, enjoy (unless your a duck, I kind of wonder if he still hates them)
