Anyway this meant today has been a preparation day. But this afternoon, wellllllll that's a different story...
You see for lunch all the kids have been allowed out to each under the falling cherry blossom (its natural so it cant be dangerous to eat...can it?) in which I managed to encourage one of the very very quiet students to sit with some of the teachers and eat (I'm working on her actually talking to us next) and then I've been out playing grand golf with my favorite special needs student. And whats grand golf......
Well, Japan seems to excel in sports and games that virtually no one else plays. Which I presume is because virtually alllll school children are made to join a club activity and so they have to invent sports for them to play; Lets see, there's grand golf, which is like crocet errr thats about all I can say about it, except that there's always old people playing this game and in Japan you never mess with old people with mallets.
soft tennis which is like normal tennis but using a weird sponge like ball instead, as loads of school kids play this I'm convinced that tennis is yet another game that I'm convinced Japan would rule over IF THEY ACTUALLY TAUGHT THEIR KIDS WITH NORMAL TENNIS BALLS....
Handball, kind of how it sounds, its like football crossed with basketball/netball where you through the ball at the opponents head... sorry I mean goal. Its actually kind of cool to watch this.
Softball / Baseball, okay I know but really apart from America who else plays these two, give me a game of school rounders anyday....
plastic darts. Like normal darts but less chance of being blinded by a drunken viking lookalike in the local pub.
anyway here's a few pictures from the afternoon, thankfully none of me looking guilty after wandering back to the teachers room to find them all busy working....
