Friday feeling. Oh no thats just the heat...

Well it's Friday, and the excitement of 3 days without work (Let's just consider "work" as sitting in front of the computer at somewhere other than my house shall we) is somewhat balanced by me not actually having a bank card and therefore not much money. Still there's always a stroll along the local river, a trip to hewiado and Japanese TV to watch...

oh, maybe not.

On a brighter note today has been somewhat of an arts day, with me being dragged by my special needs student into his class room where the teacher was trying to persuade him to make some art. He decided (and without any pressure on my behalf I should add) to make MY face out of clay. So while I was busy having been ordered to make a Cicada, he was busy giving me what he called a "big hanna" (nose) making me model it for him, while all the time he was saying things like;
"I am stalker."
"I am Mr. Stalker Stephan. BWHAHAHAH! "
( I should say Japanese people know the word stalker, I don't just introduce it into my class) oh and

"She is pig." this last one was directed at the art teacher.Anyway he has problems keeping his attention on things, so it was nice to see him concentrating and enjoyong his work, although obviously not the stalker or pig thing.

And here he is, disguised to protect his identity

The afternoon was spent watching the students practice for their culture festival, where they will have to sing, dance, put on plays and show various artworks and what not. I've had to contribute my voice to one of the plays (called something like Cockroach children I think) so I've had half the second years run up to me asking me to say things like "detekudasai" in my best game show host Japanese.
During my marking of 2nd grade worksheets one student (when describing his summer vacation) wrote;
"I went to Fukui
I swam ocean
I come in hot spring
It was a good memory"

hopefully I've made the right corrections to his work (and really do I need to point out the mistake?) , either that or he had a extremely interesting holiday.
Finally I've even managed to show a student the phrase "dance monkey dance" all in the name of education you understand, and really isn't that what Fridays are for?
Enjoy your weekend what ever you do. I'm off to make crumble and watch yet more Sapphire and Steel.
