B day and a spring day

It somehow completely escaped my notice that I have alllllmmmooost been blogging for exactly a year, somehow the fact that I've found things to waffle on for, for 12 months both surprises and worries me. I'm not sure what you actually do on events like this, (blog cake, blog hats and blog booze welcome although no leaving blog vomit behind the sofa) of course gifts welcome with checks paid out to me. Actually just when I think I've mentioned everything there is to talk about Japanese school life we have a young (well 24 - 40 year olds only which in Japan is practically teenager) teachers party where I got to enjoy the delicate taste of horse meat at the same time amusing the teachers all around with my attempts at actually cooking it first hmm raw horse not something I can say I've tried before so as birthday surprises go errr I think I'd rather wear a novelty hat.
Just like last year various teachers are moving around the local schools which meant last week I had to watch them head one by one into the headmasters room like naughty children to be told if they were moving or not. Sadly about half are teachers appear to be going and a big stack of them from our third year department: most of whom I've sat with and been friends with for almost my entire time here. So it was more than a little sad last night when we had our final 3rd grade teachers party (although only the 2nd of 4 enkais I'm off to this week one of which included the "horse" incident. There were a few tears as some teachers have been together for 10 years although one good thing is that we weren't served horse.

Also in other news the art show proved to be somewhat successful with over 300 people attending and a large sum raised for a cat shelter (although not this one) It was nice just to show some work again even though they are small paintings I do to relieve school stress ( For example; No I'm pretty sure you don't answer the question "how are you?" with "he has big pennnis")
I haven't put all the pictures from the show on the computer yet and not too sure whether people would want them up but for now here's a portrait of the artist as a young man severely in need of a hair cut.

A prize to anyone guessing what's behind my back. So I should say thanks to everyone who's read my blog or probably looked for pictures of monkey's in dresses and found it, raise a glass of blog champagne although I don't recommend in eating the blog dip.
Cheers
