Teacher what does this mean??????

Well back at school and everything seems to have got back to normal and when I say normal I mean strange, well not strange just ...... no okay I mean strange.

Yesterday I was teaching 1st and 3rd graders, a day of introductions. First I introduced the 3rd graders to the joy of lemon curd hmmmmmm lemony... Of course it was only the boys in the group who dared eat the slice of bread with the delicious curd on top, the girls as usual were repelled by the thought of having to do anything that might make them have to stand up or be noticed in anyway in front of the class.
Next I managed to introduce the 1st graders to battleships which worked surprisingly well, with all the students practicing saying HIT!! and MISS!!! The nice thing about getting the kids to play battleships is that they have to use English to play the game rather than most other games where rapid pointing, miming and other arm waving techniques that will just about do. Tomorrow I've got the...well I'd say bad group but really rather loud group so I'll have judge whether they're going to scream at each other like last time.
Today I've been practicing diary entries with the 2nd graders, the first part of the lesson had me telling the students what I did at the weekend followed by them asking me some questions, if they did it in English and I understood (as apposed to things like "how big, how big", really don't ask) anyway the Japanese teacher was busy speaking to the students and then turned to me and said, what is the English for blah blah blah, I obviously didn't understand so she tried saying more things eventually saying what sounded like "men like women" it took me a minute or two before I realised she wanted me to teach the 13 year olds the word "transvestite" now I actually don't know why or how they got onto the subject but I feel I went above and beyond the call of duty by also teaching them the word "drag queen". And of course being 13 year old children they remember the word Drag queen rather than anything else I may teach them.

So today I found once again that teaching does bring surprises.
