Yep I've got the lurgeeee..
On Thursday my herman munster style neck came with added fever, coughs and soar throat. So Friday saw me pay a visit to our local hospital, why a hospital and not a doctors(you might not be asking) well because we live in a village and even though it has its own Karaoke parlour. We don't actually have a doctors so any ailment has to be taken down to the local old person filled hospital. The only downside is that more often or not the doctors don't speak English.
Thankfully my miming ability has got very good in the last 2 years (this week I managed to mime the sentences "the thief will be arrested by the police soon" and Credit cards will not be accepted in this restaurant, try miming those yourself...) and thanks to the friendly JET diary I managed to explain what was wrong. Amusingly enough like most places I've been to in Japan when they can't understand what I'm saying they call in someone else, sometimes its a superior other times its just someone I presume to offer support in case I start waving my arms around dramatically shouting foreign stuff around; at the hospital they always call in the one doctor/X ray person who can more or less speak English. Anyway it turns out I've got a bad cold which has swollen my breathing tubes "or so the doctors has told me. So yesterday I had to present a first year class to the parents association whilst sweating buckets (thankfully the lemon curd proved a winner yet again) and equipt with an armful of medicine a bed set up in the lounge I've begun to feel better.
Here's what I felt like yesterday, minus the projectile snot, brick and Molotov cocktail and six inch nail acupuncture...you get the general idea....
