Last week the guardian ran an article on a Japanese insurance company (Dai ichi life) that ran a Senryu poetry competition. Senryu's are the same as Haiku, 17 syllable poems. But where Haiku often look at nature. For example
Frog jumps into pond
ripple spreading through water
then no trace remains
Senryus apparently look at human nature, well according to The Guardian they do.
I didn't have time/was too sick/was too lazy to post the article last week but Here it is now.
I quite like the efforts on the comments below, especially the slightly heartbreaking one from Whitt.
It does say rather alot on the situation of Salary men though when they talk so much of people ignoring them, their only comforts the heated toilet seat (to be fair though heated toilet seats hmmmm like gold dust during winter) and their car navigational system. Which does make me wonder what is it in Japanese society that makes or rather strongly suggests people stay so late at work? I've mentioned before the junior teachers who will stay till 10 in the evening even though they might have finished their work, anyway here's my own quick attempt.
Of my day only so much time can be had hiding behind a screen.
Nothing much else to report today, all my 2nd grade lessons have been cancelled, and all my other lessons have been planned. Whilst making a third grade listening test I did have the small moral question of whether it was right to include a character called Robert Palmer (If you don't know Google him) but thankfully any moral obligations were out weighed by me finding it funny and yes my day was so dull that was the highlight, unless you count me reading last years test and finding the question "What does Dick do twice a day?" (I didn't write that one in case your wondering, oh and suggested answers in comments please)
Students have had their first elective class's today, these are extra classes the students have chosen to attend (as apposed to the usual kind where we ask politely if they can attend) and apparently only 2 girls have chosen to go the P.E classes so its them and one teacher.. their dodge ball games must be exciting.
