I, am the April Fool

So I'm still sitting here somewhat baffled after this morning, although some times it just takes a tight lid on a jar to baffle me, but still...
On Sunday night I got a phone call from my supervisor F Sensei. Who told me that there was a community clean up on Tuesday morning, and that I would be photographed and interviewed by the local paper. Now I've been interviewed before (as obviously being the only foreigner for miles around I am famous and pretty easy to spot) So I thought "fair enough" it was only when I put the phone down that I wondered whether it was an April fools (which apparently is something that is practiced in Japan but on a small scale, no spaghetti trees here, no sir!) And my other half pointed out that a friend of ours had to recently do community work which involved picking through sewage and moving it around a bit. Still I thought that it all seemed fine, but just in case I'll ask Furuno on Monday for more details.
Come Monday I asked her more about it, and she told me that its something that most communities do, our poor hard working school kids are testament to that, and those who don't do it have to pay a large fine. So on Monday I bought some new work gloves, I sorted through my old work clothes and had an early night. At 4.50 I got up made a pot of coffee, had some cereal and waited around. At 5.30 I wandered onto the silent empty streets of my village (which usually are empty come to think of it) wandered over to the local temple (oh yes we have a local temple don'tyaknow!) and then wandered back in, no sign...
By this time my other half had woken up and was padding around the kitchen, we talked about how the villagers had done this before, (told me they would pick me up and then didn't not the padding around my kitchen) at 5.40 my other half (M.O.H) told me they thought they heard a car outside so I wandered back out, onto the streets down the roads. STILL. NO. SIGN!
I came back in and found M.O.H on the phone you said someone guy was on the phone, I picked it up and heard....

April fools!!!!!! shouted by M.O.H
I am a fool.........
turns out they had contacted my supervisor on Sunday and arranged the whole thing, although my supervisor had also made up a whole load of new lies to cover her back on Monday
I will say that again I AM A FOOL! Next year I've decided to..
A) never mess with M.O.H .....ever
B) Lock myself in a room all day.

Here's my somewhat baffled face, and my baffling hat that I wear on these special occasions.
